PERC 4 and Windows 2008 R2


Recently, I had the chance to load Windows 2008 R2 on a relatively dated piece of equipment, a Dell Power Edge 2850.  Unfortunately, Windows 2008 R2 does not natively support the PERC 4e/xx series.  

Google's Go

While playing with Google's Go programming language, I discovered that it properly traps stack overflows.  A basic concept for a compiler, but interesting to play with from a web browser (http://www.golang.org).  This led me to wonder how complex of a stack could be built and properly trapped.

Windows Security regarding Well Known SIDs


A relatively common security practice is to rename the built-in administrator accounts and groups so as to obscure them from potential attacks.  While this suggestion holds some merit regarding outside attacks, it does little to prevent even non-privileged users from discovering administrative accounts.

ASUS A8N-VM CSM (AD1986A) HD Audio Drivers for Windows 7 and Server 2008 (32-bit and 64-bit)


I couldn't get my ASUS A8N-VM CSM to work with Windows Server 2008, but I came across a tip on "Microsoft Answers" where someone suggested using the drivers for Windows Vista from ASUS's page. 

Adobe Reader Error 1625 on Server 2008 R2

Thanks to Microsoft's Dreamspark.com, I am running Server 2008 on one of my PCs.  Although it works very well, I ran in to an issue when I tried to install the latest updates to Adobe Reader 9.
